Thanksgiving Weekend Tournament Results
By AYSO Region 60 , December 8, 2011STORY HIGHLIGHTS
Great weekend of tournament play over all by all our teams. Alhambra went out and competed at the top level in all divisions and all teams.
Our BU12 boys team Coached by Javier Dell Valle and Leticia Peralta took home 1ST PLACE CHAMPIONS with an impressive run while only allowing 1 goal all weekend, the boys and coaches did a fantastic job.
Our GU12 team Coached by Steve Shahin also had a terrific run and they too only allowed 1 goal all weekend, unfortunately at the wrong time, finishing 2ND PLACE RUNNER UP.
As coordinator and I was very happy in the way our teams fought and competed out on the field.
All of us should be proud of the way in which our player, parents, coaches and volunteers all conducted themselves on and off the field.

Alhambra BU12 1st Place Champions - MST
Alhambra BU12 - 2011 1st Place MST Champions
The U12B Alhambra team came into the tournament prepared and ready for some tough competition. First game Friday against South Pasadena proved to be tough, we missed about 20 shots on goal, some 1-on-1's, just kicker and keeper. We eventually pulled out 1-0. In our second game on Friday vs Glendale we found our stride, scoring 3-0. By the 3rd game on Saturday morning vs. Santa Monica we were on a roll. I remember Santa Monica from a couple years ago and they beat us, so I personally was worried, but not for long... We truly meshed and played together as a team. We won 5-0. We had our keepers play forward 1 quarter each, 1 of them scoring and another making beautiful passes. Goes to show everyone, keepers can develop on the field too, if given a chance! I can't say enough for our defense, they held the line strong, chasing down every ball first, clearing it, or passing to our midfielders. Our midfielders were exceptional! Making great moves, fakes, passing and scoring also! It was AWESOME to watch. Our semi-final match against Arcadia was just as intense as previous matches but we pulled it off once again with a 3-0 victory. Keeping our shut out, Goals Against at ZERO! In the Championship Game on Sunday for 1st place, we faced Burbank, another undefeated team, just like us. They proved to be a worthy opponent, being the only team in the tournament to score 1 goal on us. We had some injuries in this game but the kids persevered. They played like champs, our keeper blocking several shots, our defense holding the lead through the 4th quarter. We won 2-1! Parents and coaches were all so proud of these boys! It was my pleasure to be involved with such a talented, determined, focused group of kids.
Thanks,
Letty (BU12 Assistant Head Coach)

Alhambra GU12 2nd Place Runner-Up - MST
Alhambra GU12 - 2011 2nd Place MST Runner-Up
The GU12 team competing at Myles Standish tournament this past thanksgiving weekend finished in 2nd place overall. The team was awesome to watch as they allowed only 1 goal the entire weekend of 5 games. The team has only worked together for about 2 weeks, but their hard work and togetherness really set them miles apart for the other teams. The championship game was a nail bitter that finished 1-0 in favor of a more seasoned Burbank team. Our Alhambra Region 60 girls played with a toughness that really made all those that watched and participated proud, and our team went off the field that last game with their heads held high. It was exciting for me to be a part of the entire weekend with such a great group of girls and I eagerly look forward to their bright futures.
